MTB NATURAL TRAIL AREA

MTB culture is extraordinary in La Thuile. Huge drops and imposing sceneries, in which the Mont-Blanc, the Rutor glacier, the Mont Rose and the Mattehorn stand out, will make you truly appreciate the MTB Natural Trail Area in La Thuile which, starting from the highest point that can be reached in the Belvedere area at 2.600 metres, decreases for more than 1.200 until the town centre. 220 km of routes are waiting for you in this wide bike park that can be reached by bike thank to the ski facilities, which this year will be open from July  to August/September. The beauty and the strength that come from this stunning environment, in which you will find the bike area, are the elements that make this area and routes so wonderful. 

The valley, dominated by Rutor’s firn snow, offers a magnificent sight of the Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest peak. It is an ideal location for those who love skiing, thanks to the vast Espace San Bernardo ski area, ranging from the Italian side of La Thuile to the French side of La Rosière, in summer La Thuile becomes an unique place to hike and mountain bike.

La Thuile’s bike area is located in an alpine environment and from a technical point of view the bike park can be divided in two areas, following the altitude zones. The highest portion, between 2.400 and 1.900 m, it’s characterized by a smooth and linear gradient with the typical open meadow vegetation that guaranties a wide and perfectly clear visibility. The soil drains well in case of rain.

From 1900 to 1400 m the slope changes and gets steep in the woods. The trails get more demanding for the body and the bike. The soil is different, there are roots, stones and some off camber sections. The soil is often covered with pine needles and there are some streams to ford.Since 2014, when La Thuile came into the spotlight of the enduro enthusiasts by hosting for the first time a round of the prestigious international series EWS, the resort of the Valle d’Aosta region has kept working on its growth – and financial investment – in terms of its mountain-biking offer. The expansion of the trail network and of the services aimed at the sport enthusiasts goes side by side with the organization of important events such as the final round of the Internazionali d’Italia Series and the Italian Enduro Championship: La Thuile is ready to welcome such an event and proud of hosting it in its beautiful valleys, surrounded by a lush nature and in the presence of his Majesty Mont Blanc.

From this year, moreover, La Thuile wants to meet the needs of those who want to experience the MTB as a means to enjoy in tranquility of the magnificent views that surround it, with a series of simple tracks dedicated to the cycle-trek.
